from Miss Grimshaw Headteacher

Welcome back we hope you had a lovely half term.

Coming Up

Wednesday 16th May - We will wear red, white and blue in school to celebrate the Queen coming to Accrington. Also we will be celebrating by having a special 'British Menu' meal and each child will receive a crown. The price of the meal for children who DO NOT have FREE school meal will be £2.00per child. Book by Monday 14th May.

The School Governors have decided that we close school early so that you will be able to take your child down to the town to wave at Her Majesty. (They could wear their crown!) This is a once in a lifetime opprotunity for your child to share in this Royal occasion.

School will close at 1:15 p.m. so that you can be in place in town by 2:00 p.m.

Our school needs 2 more parent Governors immediately. Are you interested?

This web link will tell you more about it or you could speak with Miss Grimshaw.

Here are some extracts from the web site

Become a school governor - There are lots of ways in which you can donate expertise to your child's school, but one of the most important and responsible - and let's face it, one which involves the greatest commitment - is becoming a governor.

What do school governors do? - School governors are a team of people who work closely with the head teacher to make key decisions vital to the successful running of the school. The governors appoint the head teacher and make decisions that directly affect the education and well-being of the children. They play an important role in improving standards throughout the school and agree the school's budget. In other words, it's a very meaningful role!

If you are interested please let Miss Grimshaw know.

School Nurse has started drop-in sessions on Thursdays @ 9:00am in the staffroom. Please come to school through the office to talk to the nurse if you have an issue about your child with which you would like advice or help.
