Foundation Stage

Welcome to the brand new Foundation Stage Department at Spring Hill Community Primary School.

We are very proud of all of our children and the progress they are making following the opening of the integrated department in September 2008.

There are two teachers in our department. Mrs Renshaw is the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One Leader and Mrs Maxwell is the Foundation Stage Teacher.

We have three teaching assistants- Mrs Allan, Mrs Grasso and Miss Spooner and two bi lingual teaching assistants- Mrs Khan and Mrs Hussain. We also have four other SEN support staff.

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which became statutory in September 2008. This curriculum covers six broad areas:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development;

• Communication for Language and Literacy;

• Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy;

• Knowledge and Understanding of the World;

• Physical Development;

• Creative  Development.

 

Our children’s needs and interests always come first. By observing them carefully we plan the children’s work so that we follow their interests. Each child has their own key worker with whom they spend time every day and who tracks their progress and achievements carefully.

We are always very busy in the department doing lots of exciting things!
