The Staff:
Mrs Begum and Ms Davies welcome you to Hill 3. We are always more than happy to speak to you about your child, just catch us at the door at drop off or home time, or call and make an appointment.
The Children:
Welcome are the Mighty Lion Legends! We are a class of brave, kind, and determined learners who always try our best. We support and encourage one another, work together as a team, and show resilience when faced with challenges. Through curiosity, creativity, and respect, we grow in confidence every day as we learn, achieve, and succeed together.
Together we follow the school vision, 'Eyes wide open, arms outstretched, curious minds aiming high', and create a classroom where every child can thrive and RAISE.
Forest School & PE
Children will have PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays. As our uniform policy states, children are expected to wear their PE uniform and trainers every day for school. This ensures children are able to take part in our Mindful Mile everyday in the appropriate attire.
Our Class Novel: We read our class novel every day - it's one of our most favourite times! We love reading in Hill 3!
Every day after lunch we Drop Everything And Read! The children use this time to quietly read a book of their choice from our wonderful school library.
The Iron Man
We are currently reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. This exciting story follows a mysterious giant metal man who appears one day and causes wonder and concern. As the story unfolds, we discover themes of friendship, courage, and problem-solving in a thrilling adventure.
What We Will Be Learning This Half Term
Maths - Place Value
We will learn how numbers are made up and compare, order, and represent them in different ways.
Science - All About Skeletons
We will explore the human skeleton and discover how bones help us move, protect our organs, and support our bodies.
English - Stone: Kassim and the Greedy Dragon
We will use this exciting story to develop our suspense writing and learn how to create engaging narratives.
History - Life in the Bronze Age and Iron Age
We will investigate how people lived, worked, and developed new skills during these important periods in history.
Art - Can I Describe Life Through Art?
We will use different artistic techniques to express ideas, experiences, and the world around us.
Computing - Computing Systems and Networks
We will learn how computers and networks work together to help us communicate and access information.
PE - Invasion Games: Basketball and Netball
We will develop our teamwork, passing, attacking, and defending skills through fun invasion games.
PSHRE - Respecting Ourselves and Others
We will learn how to build positive relationships and show respect for ourselves and those around us.
RE - Christianity
We will explore Christian beliefs, traditions, and the importance of faith in the lives of Christians.

Homework
Homework
Homework is an important way for children to practise and build on what they are learning in school. We really value your support in helping to make this a positive and rewarding experience for your child.
Each week, the children will be given spellings to learn. A spelling sheet for the week will be sent home.
Homework will also be set weekly on Emile, our online learning platform. The children have been sent home with their own login details, which they will need to access their tasks. Emile homework will link to their spellings, times tables, and the Maths topic we are covering that week. Please do take the time to sit with your child and discuss their homework with them, as this makes a big difference to their learning.
Children will also bring home Talk Homework each week to help children develop their “sticky knowledge”, they will bring home 3–5 key facts each week to share and talk about with you. Discussing these together really helps them to remember and apply what they’ve learned in class.
Finally, the children will take part in our weekly Map Quest challenge in class. This activity is designed to make geography fun while building the children’s knowledge of places and locations.
Thank you for encouraging and supporting your child with their homework — working together makes a real difference. We offer a homework club on Thursday lunch times open to any child in Year 3 who wants extra time or extra help completing their homework.
