Spring 3

Welcome to Spring 3!

The Staff:

Mrs Sarchet and Mr Amin welcome you to Spring 3. We are always more than happy to speak to you about your child, just catch us at the door at drop off or home time, or call and make an appointment.

The Children:

We call ourselves The Curious and Creative Tribe. We love our learning to be active and engaging. We've explored muscles by making our own hand, wrist and arm! We have learned about rocks and fossils by creating our own using chocolate - we may have eaten them too! We are looking forward to delving into the bronze age, making our own pop-up cards and learning all about magnets.

Together we follow the school vision - eyes wide open, arms outstretched, curious minds aiming high- and create a classroom where every child can thrive and RAISE.

Upcoming dates:

8th January : Prehistoric history day, a look into the lives of the Stone Age and Bronze Age.

What we are reading:

This half term we are reading Grandpa Bert and the Ghost Snatchers by Malorie Blackman. Your child also has weekly access to our wonderful school library where they can choose a book to read for pleasure.

Homework

Homework is an important way for children to practise and build on what they are learning in school. We really value your support in helping to make this a positive and rewarding experience for your child.

Each week, the children will be given spellings to learn. A spelling sheet for the week will be sent home.

Homework will also be set weekly on Emile, our online learning platform. The children have been sent home with their own login details, which they will need to access their tasks. Emile homework will link to their spellings, times tables, and the Maths topic we are covering that week. Please do take the time to sit with your child and discuss their homework with them, as this makes a big difference to their learning.

Children will also bring home Talk Homework each week to help children develop their “sticky knowledge”, they will bring home 3–5 key facts each week to share and talk about with you. Discussing these together really helps them to remember and apply what they’ve learned in class.

Finally, the children will take part in our weekly Map Quest challenge in class. This activity is designed to make geography fun while building the children’s knowledge of places and locations.

Thank you for encouraging and supporting your child with their homework — working together makes a real difference. We offer a homework club on Thursday lunch times open to any child in Year 3 who wants extra time or extra help completing their homework.
